A recently published case report described the full-mouth rehabilitation with implant-prosthesis in a Marfan Syndrome patient.
This was a joint publication from the University of Kentucky, led by Dr Ahmad Kutkut and the University of Aberdeen led by Dr Rasha Abu Eid.
Marfan Syndrome is a genetic disorder that affects different tissues in the body and is associated with multiple oral and dental manifestations in addition to serious systemic complications. This presents clinicians with challenges when providing dental treatment to these patients.The case report, published in the Journal of Oral Implantology (official publication of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and of the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontics) described the successful treatment of a Marfan Syndrome patient using full mouth dental implant retained prosthetics.
