New Article by Dr Christopher Kollmeyer: Financialization and the Decline of Organized Labor

Dr Christopher Kollmeyer's work on the decline of trade union participation appears as the lead article in the most recent issue of Social Forces.

Established in 1922, Social Forces is a leading journal in American sociology and one with a wide international readership.

In the article, entitled, "Financialization and the Decline of Organized Labor: A Study of 18 Advanced Capitalist Countries, 1970–2012", Dr Kollmeyer and his Canadian co-author, Dr John Peters (Laurentian University) show that the financialization of the economy and the growing power of finance capital is an important but previously unrecognized cause of the deunionisation of national workforces.
