First cohort of Chinese business students graduate

Twenty one students from South China Normal University have become the first cohort to graduate through a new joint undergraduate degree programme with the University of Aberdeen Business School.

The initiative allows business students at South China University (SCNU) to study for two years in China and then do the final two years in Aberdeen.

A third of the programme at SCNU’s Nanhai campus is taught by University of Aberdeen academics. Students join the Finance and Real Estate cohort in Aberdeen.

The successful students graduated in Aberdeen on Tuesday with double degrees from the universities.

One of the cohort, Qi Zhu, is graduating with an MA in Finance and Real Estate (First Class).

He said: “To me, the University of Aberdeen a warm, welcoming community and I have never regretted making the decision to join this family.

“The content of the programme covered almost every aspect of the subject and explored them rigorously in depth and width. I feel that the professors were motivated in the subject, knowledgeable, approachable and always great, not only in the academic, but also in their personal tutoring to which I am especially grateful for their invaluable advice on my personal development.”

Qi Zhu will now move to London to do a Masters in Real Estate Economics and Finance at the London School of Economics.
