The Conversation is an online independent source of news and views, sourced from the academic and research community and delivered direct to the public.
Following her recent and much publicised collaborative study into hospital discinfectants, the Institute of Dentistry's Dr Karolin Hijazi has published a lay piece on The Conversation, receiving 15,000 hits in a short space of time and receiving feedback from an international readership.
The Conversation launched in Australia in March 2011 and in the UK in May 2013. The Conversation only allow authors to write on a subject on which they have proven expertise, which they must disclose alongside their article. The Conversation aims to allow better understanding of current affairs and complex issues, as well as a better quality of public discourse and conversation.
