The 2019 TARRN meeting was co-hosted by the James Hutton Institute and the University of Aberdeen and was organised by Dr Mags Currie and Dr Annie McKee from the James Hutton Institute and Dr Lorna Philip, Geography and Environment, University of Aberdeen.

Over 40 delegates attended this meeting with the majority having submitted papers for open peer review at the meeting.

Delegates also attended sessions on innovative methods in rural social science research and the interface between academic research and public policy, the later addressed by representatives of Scottish Government, Highlands and Islands and the Rural Policy Centre based at SRUC.

A fieldtrip was held on the final day of the meeting and delegates were taken to various locations on Royal Deeside, including a visit to Tarland to find out about the Community Garden and Community Housing projects and to Burn O’Vat, location of the accompanying TARRN 2019 group photograph.
