There has been more success in national competitions for Department of Music students, with PhD student Alison Willis winning the 2019 Gesualdo Six competition for her work The Wind's Warning.
Alison’s work will be performed by the Gesualdo Six at Cadogan Hall, London on the 07 March. Department composers have won several competitions recently with wins for recent graduate Sarah Rimkus, PhD student Mike Merrill and further success for Alison. This is the second time the Gesualdo Six have run a composition competition, the 2016 award was won by departmental lecturer Dr Phillip Cooke, with Rimkus as an honorary mention. The Department of Music is quickly becoming a hotbed for new choral music and national competition success.
