Seminar Speaker - Professor Tim Ingold

The Anthropology Seminar Series invited speaker is the Principle Investigator for the Knowing From the Inside Project, University of Aberdeen, to talk about his project related research.

Prof Tim Ingold from the Anthropology Department presenting part a chapter of his manuscript Anthropology and/or Education.

EDUCATION IN THE MINOR KEY

This talk, part of a manuscript on Anthropology and/as Education, has been inspired by a new book by Erin Manning, entitled The Minor Gesture. The minor is the key of unsettlement, of differentiation and of world-forming. How can we use it to challenge the hegemonic force of the major, in which are enshrined the founding principles of progressive education? What are the implications of this challenge for the way we think about study and the school, teaching and learning, and the freedoms they both depend upon and exemplify?
