The course ME33IF joins the course FR1028: LEVEL 1 FRENCH LANGUAGE 1A: BEGINNERS/NEAR BEGINNERS (STANDARD GRADE/GCSE OR BELOW) and will need to catch up.
Therefore although this introductory language course prior
knowledge of French, is required in the form of a National 5/Standard Grade/GCSE
good pass (i.e. B)
Students with Higher or A Level or native speakers are not eligible to take this course
This course concentrates on the acquisition of basic grammar and vocabulary, and on the development of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

What will the timetable be like?
The only fixed lectures are on the beginners’ course where there is a choice of attending on Monday and Tuesday at either 9am or 1pm.
In addition there is a weekly tutorial (Variety of days/times) and oral class (variety of days/times. You need to sign up for a tutorial through MyAberdeen at the beginning of the semester.
How will I be assessed?
40% coursework: 10% for two grammar assessments (5% each) done in student’s own time; 10% for letter-writing exercise done in own time; 20% for in-class test
60% written examination – this will take place in the final week of the Medical Humanites block
Are there any prerequisites for this course?
Standard Grade/GCSE pass, is normally required for entry to this course however if you are keen to proceed with the course without this qualification please discuss with course coordinator.

You are required to purchase only one text book;
