A great place to visit with family and friends.

We're open for the Summer!

Displays

The displays are worldwide in scope, from starfish to the great whales, and include taxidermy, skeletons, fluid-preserved specimens and models.

Self-guided Activities

Enjoy our fantastic displays and have a go at the self-led activities and trails whilst you are here. Pick up sheets, clipboards and pencils from the University Collections Welcome Desk in the foyer.

TBC Colouring Collab!

One of our largest exhibits, the Giant Spider Crab, is currently on loan to Aberdeen Art Gallery for the Monsters of the Deep exhibition so we want our visitors to collaborate and colour in a Monster Crab Picture whilst he is away! Take a section, colour it in, then ask our Museum Assistant to place your section onto the giant drawing in the Lower Gallery.

Minecraft Marine Trail

Our Minecraft trail was so popular last summer, we are bringing it back again this summer in celebration of the city-wide Festival of the Sea. Can you find 13 Minecraft sea creatures hidden in the Museum? Find them all and claim your sticker!

Book Table

Take a comfy seat and enjoy some animal tales. We have selected some great reading books inspired by our collections.

Colouring-in Table

You will find pencils and colouring sheets on the big table in the Zoology Building foyer. After you've enjoyed a look around the museum and garden, take a seat and get creative!

Summer Parking & Access

During the summer holidays, members of the public visiting the campus can park in staff car parks, including the Zoology Building car park near to the Zoology Museum, using the parking location code 809204 via the PayByPhone app/website. The rate is the same as staff parking, currently £1.20 per day. Information about the App is show on posters at the entrances to the Zoology Building.

This is only available from 6 July to 14 August. The code will be deactivated before and after these dates.

  • Parking on site before 6 July and after 14 August will be reserved for staff and students.
  • Blue badge holders are welcome to use the disabled bays in the parking lot.
  • Alternative parking for visitors can be found on the Chanonry and Bedford Road (both are pay and display).
  • If you are visiting with a buggy or wheelchair, parking on the Chanonry and entering via Cruickshank Botanic Garden is much easier as it avoids stairs. Thank you for your understanding.
