Situated on the Ground Floor of the Sir Duncan Rice Library, the Gallery is the primary venue for our ongoing programme of temporary exhibitions, showcasing collections from across Museums and Special Collections.
Current Exhibition
Our current exhibition is "Legacies of Slavery: Transatlantic slavery and Aberdeen", exploring the North-East links to the slave trade. The exhibition runs from 27th March to 2nd December 2023.

Accessibility
The Library and Gallery are fully wheelchair accessible. If you would like to visit other floors of the Library, please ask the front desk staff who can arrange for a visitor pass. Lifts are then available to all floors.

Getting Here
The gallery is located on the ground floor of the Sir Duncan Rice Library. On entering the building go straight ahead, the gallery is to the left of the sentry gates, marked by footprints on the floor!

Parking on site is for staff and students only; however, blue badge holders can use the disabled bays in the parking lot. Alternative parking can be found on the Chanonry and Bedford Road (both are pay and display). For further information on disabled access please see AccessAble.
- By Bus

Several buses & coaches pass near the gallery.
First Bus no. 19 is the most direct, stopping just outside the library. Numbers 1, 1B, 2 and 20 also stop on campus, approximately a five-minute walk from the library gallery. Service 17 & 18 stop at Burnett Place which is about a 10 minute walk from the library gallery. You can find more information on the First Bus website.
Stagecoach buses no. 50, X60, X63. X67, X68 & 291 also stop on King Street a short walk away from the library gallery. Service 727 stops at Burnett Place which is about a 10 minute walk from the library gallery. For more information on times and to plan your journey please visit the Stagecoach website.

A number of bike stands are available at the front of the library. Visitors must bring their own bike locks, as bikes left unattended are at the visitor’s own risk and are not the responsibility of the University.

The library is within a ten minutes walk from Old Aberdeen high street and all aforementioned bus stops.
Facilities
Toilets are located on the ground floor of the library, to the right of the reception desk; accessible toilets and changing facilities are available.
Seating can be found in the main foyer of the library, within the café and behind the gallery. Food and drink is allowed in this area but only water is allowed in the Gallery.
There is a café within the Sir Duncan Rice Library, and there are also a number of cafes across campus including Kilau, JG Ross, Shelter Café, and the Hub.
