Focus Apps
Focus and motivation apps
There are many apps to help you focus, the ones we feature here have been recommended by UoA students and our panel of reviewers:
Forest: By spending time away from your phone, you can earn coins, which can be saved up and used to help plant real trees. Whenever you want to stay focused, plant a tree, but leaving the app halfway will cause your tree to die. Stay focused daily and turn hard work into forest.
Focus Friend: Focus Friend is a cozy, gamified focus timer created by Hank Green from Crash Course. When you Focus, your Bean Friend will Focus on their knitting. If you interrupt your Bean by turning off the timer, they'll be really really sad. But if you complete the focus session you'll get decorations to help furnish their room.
Regain: Regain helps you break free from phone addiction, reduce screen time, and stay focused. It’s more than just an app blocker — it’s your personal companion in building better digital habits. Whether you're a student preparing for exams or a professional seeking balance.
We've included links to all these apps in the Links section of this resource.
