The School of Education has a key role in the provision of initial teacher education for those who wish to enter the teaching profession.
Students can choose from the four year MA (Honours) Education degree, the BMus(Honours) with Education, and the one-year Professional Graduate Diploma (PGDE). Students on these programmes spend a significant period of time on school experience within partner authorities, and all are guaranteed a one-year induction placement following successful completion of their degree.
Other opportunities at undergraduate level provide a focus for professionals within childcare, community learning and other professional contexts.
Postgraduate taught programmes are available to graduates with experience in a wide variety of professional contexts who are interested in developing professional enquiry, leadership and research skills at Masters level.
Postgraduate research opportunities are available to graduates (usually those who already have a Masters degree) who wish to undertake in-depth research within their professional contexts.
