Introduction to Windows 11 Operating System
As part of planned upgrade work the Directorate of Digital Information Services will be moving all University managed devices (unless part of an agreed exemption list) to the Windows 11 operating system.
This upgrade is now available for staff to install at any time prior to the automatic upgrade which begins on May 27th.
Microsoft support for Windows 10 ends on 14 October 2025. This means that all Windows PCs and laptops must be upgraded to Windows 11 before this date. Digital and Information Services will be upgrading managed University devices to the new Windows 11 operating system.

To install the update you will require a minimum of 30GB of free hard disk space. If you require help with this please read our disk clean up guide or contact the IT Service Desk.
