This colourful image shows Skinner's elder brother, Sandy performing the sword dance whilst accompanying himself on the fiddle. The medal pinned to his waistcoat shows that he has won a prize for this already.
Dancing masters traditionally accompanied themselves for dancing, and usually taught and played the fiddle at the same time. |
