The Final Year project offers students the opportunity to undertake in-depth independent study on a topic of their choosing. The topic is chosen by the student, in conjunction with the dissertation coordinator and an individual programme supervisor, both of whom approve the topic. Students are encouraged to design their topic building on their previous studies, especially honours courses. In addition to providing students with the opportunity to carry out in-depth independent study in a topic germane to Languages, cultures and societies, this course also enables students to acquire and develop valuable research skills. The course includes research skills workshops and sessions on formulating research questions, literature search and review, relevant research methods, academic writing and editing. It also includes structured meetings with the dissertation supervisor.
