This course is a dissertation in anthropology that is based on scholarship in Anthropology but not on primary fieldwork with other people. It is available to single honours and joint honours students in anthropology. Under the guidance of a supervisor, students will conduct research and prepare and write the final report.
Scholarship in this course may include the analysis of academic work, online materials, art works, or museum or other material objects, as long as fieldwork with other people (which would require ethical review) is not included.
The techniques of analysis vary with the nature of the research problem, but all students are guided in critical analysis of existing literature; applying relevant theory to evidence; report planning and writing. Emphasis is placed on helping students develop their own skills.
Information on contact teaching time is available from the course guide.
