Course Description

This course is a dissertation in anthropology that is based on original data collected during fieldwork involving live human subjects. It is available to single honours students in anthropology and joint honours students who have taken AT3538 Anthropological Research Methods and Research Design. The dissertation builds on the research proposal developed in AT3538. Under the guidance of a supervisor, students will conduct field research and prepare and write the final report.

The techniques of analysis vary with the nature of the research problem, but all students are guided in critical analysis of existing literature; applying relevant theory to evidence; report planning and writing. Emphasis is placed on helping students develop their own skills.
