Course Description

The LS/LX451U International trade law will equip students with a range of knowledge that is indispensable for any future career path relating to international trade and commerce. This course will consider aspects of international trade law and focus on the legal and practical issues that may arise in this context. Specifically, these are the key contracts in international trade law; sources of international trade law; trade risks; international sale of goods (including the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG)); international carriage of goods (with emphasis on carriage of goods by sea); insurance matters; financing of international trade (including letters of credit); trade digitalisation; and international commercial dispute resolution by litigation and arbitration. In addition to the above, in each seminar, we will consider selected specialised issues that relate to current developments in the field.
