This course will provide you with guidance on writing the 9-month report and MRes thesis, and guidance on how to prepare for the oral examination or viva (viva voce) of your thesis. This course also covers communication with non-academic audiences, including the Press, and you will learn how to communicate your research in a manner that is accessible to non-experts.
The final part of this course focuses on careers in academia and includes a careers discussion session where a panel of academics and researchers will describe their career paths and invite questions about life as an academic.
