IB501R: STRATEGY AND PRACTICE IN A DYNAMIC WORLD (2022-2023)

Last modified: 31 Jul 2023 11:19

Course Overview

In an ever-changing world, it is difficult for new or established businesses to remain sustainable. This course is going to explore some invaluable tools and techniques to help you develop strategies to give your business a competitive advantage. You will all come from very different backgrounds and have widely varying experiences. Irrespective of your own background or your career, you need to understand how to manage in an organisation where a collection of people pursue a common goal strategically. While you might be familiar with some strategic perspectives, this course will pursue the concepts in more depth as we view strategy as an iterative process through time. All forms of strategic thinking and decision making are influenced by a combination of internal and external factors and take place in dynamic contexts. This is the idea of dynamic strategy: to constantly learn and reinvent in response to an everchanging environment. By exploring strategy and practice in this way, this course will enable you to effectively operate in a rapidly developing, and increasingly varied modern business world.
