Course Overview

This course explores various aspects of corporate insolvency law, which is an important area in practice. Among the topics that will be covered are theories of corporate insolvency law, types of insolvency process (including corporate rescue processes), creditors’ claims and security rights (especially floating charges), challengeable transactions, and liability of directors. While the principal focus will be law in the UK, references will also be made to other jurisdictions, including the USA.

Course Description

The course aims to develop an in-depth knowledge of a number of aspects of corporate insolvency law and to develop the specialist skills required at honours level.

Students will acquire knowledge and understanding of corporate insolvency law issues, in particular (subject to a degree of variation):

  • Theories of corporate insolvency law
  • Types of insolvency process
  • Corporate rescue
  • Creditors’ claims and security rights
  • Challengeable transactions
  • Liability of directors
