Photograph exhibition at the North Eastern Federal University, Yakutsk

Students and staff at the North Eastern Federal University's History Department have organised a photograph exhibition, inspired by artefacts from the British Museum

A photographic exhibition, Ysyakh Through the Centuries, opened on 12 April 2017 at the North Eastern Federal University, in Yakutsk. This exhibition is a very important event in our project, because it was designed and organised by the students of the History Department (Social Anthropology Society) of NEFU, with tremendous support from staff. The exhibition is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), University of Aberdeen and the British Museum.
Not only did the students organise the exhibition, they also did some serious research for it. Each exhibition case was built around a Sakha object from the British Museum collection and the students researched the objects, their uses and followed these objects in contemporary life. Whilst carrying out the research, they had to talk to their parents and elderly relatives to learn more about the objects, their uses and roles. Great exhibition. Thank you all very much!
