About the Student Learning Service

The Student Learning Services works with students and teaching staff to enhance students’ academic skills.  The primary services we provide are:

Workshops – These are free and scheduled during term-time.  There are workshops for undergraduates and taught postgraduates.  Topics covered include:  time management and planning, note-taking, many aspects of academic writing, presentation skills and exam revision and techniques.  The workshop schedule and descriptions will be listed on the online booking system at the start of each half-session.

Study Advice Sessions – We provide confidential one-to-one study advice sessions for undergraduates and taught postgraduates, covering general academic skills, as well as maths.  We also have a specialist adviser who sees students with dyslexia and other specific learning differences.  We only look at marked assignments or essays, never work that has not yet been submitted.  The Student Learning Service cannot proofread or look at any course work that has not already been marked.
