Volunteering and charity sector careers fair

Volunteering and charity sector careers fair

Thursday 7 March 11.00am - 3.00pm, Butchart Recreation Centre

Are you passionate about making a difference? Come along to the volunteering and charity sector fair to talk to over 40 third sector organisations.

Whether you're seeking unpaid volunteering roles to give back to your community or aiming to launch your career in the charity sector with internships or full-time positions, this event is your gateway to meaningful work.

Connect with organisations dedicated to good causes including, working with children, working with animals, health and social care, the environment and within a variety of community settings. Find the perfect fit for your skills and interests. A number of the exhibitors at the event are graduates of the University of Aberdeen, so it is a great opportunity to talk to them about how they achieved their current role! Register to attend the event on CareerConnect.

Thirteen paid third sector summer 2024 internships exclusive to University of Aberdeen students will be LIVE from Monday 4 March on Career Connect . Organisations include Alcohol and Drugs Action, Braemar Castle, Team Jak and We Too! Some of the providers will be available for you to talk to at the fair – make yourself known to them and ask about their opportunities.  More information about the internships.

Top tips for making the most of the fair

  • Plan your day/who you really want to talk to and give yourself plenty of time to speak to exhibitors. Avoid waiting at busy stands but use the time to speak to other exhibitors of interest and come back later.
  • It is best to go around the fair on your own, rather than in large groups, so you can ask your own questions, and make an individual impression. Don’t be content with listening into other conversations. Ask your own questions.
  • Ask for the name of any representatives with whom you have a conversation, ask them if you can connect with them on LinkedIn and make contact with them after the event.
  • Dress fairly smartly as this can help you to feel more confident and makes a good first impression.
  • If you are not sure where to start when you arrive, then come and speak to us at the Careers and Employability Service stand first to give you time to settle any nerves and form a plan.
  • Do some research on the organisations who will be attending the event and generally regarding working in the charity and voluntary work sector
