The purpose of this course is to introduce you to the external global context in which businesses operate. It explores the political, economic, sociocultural, technological, ethical and market influences on business. It also explores how businesses interact to the global environment through innovation, strategy, operations and marketing.

The course introduces you to the external global context in which businesses operate through four key themes:
The course will cover these topics in detail allowing you to gain in-depth knowledge of them. These four topics are central to international business and the knowledge you develop on them will be helpful across your subsequent studies of International Business. Besides, the course will help you focus on current elements of the business context, but it will also provide you with the theoretical underpinning that will allow you to assess the importance of different elements of the context across your years of study and in your subsequent professional life.
