This course provides an introduction to key theories and concepts in Human Resource Management (HRM). Key themes to be covered include core HRM topics such as the link between strategy and HRM, reward and performance management, training and development, equality and diversity management.

Course Description

This course provides an introduction to key theories and concepts in Human Resource Management (HRM). Key themes to be covered include core HRM topics including the link between strategy and HRM, reward and performance management, training and development, equality and diversity management.

There are three broad topics covered:

  1. Understand the main functional areas within HRM (e.g. Recruitment and Selection; Learning, Training and Development; Managing Performance and Rewards).
  2. Assess how HRM practices may impact on organisations and individuals.
  3. Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to the management of HRM issues within contemporary business contexts.
