Course Description

The course will provide an introductory insight into two contemporary business issues: (1) environmental sustainability and climate change, and (2) the impact of new information and communication technologies such as mobile technologies (smartphones, computers etc) and artificial intelligence technologies (generative AI, algorithms) on work. Both issues are important contemporary factors with significant potential impacts for a diverse range of organisations. The focus is on the relevance and impact of these issues on contemporary organisations. For both issues the course will look at contrasting perspectives, critically examining both empirical evidence and case studies of their significance and impact for organisations, as well as examine theories and concepts which are being utilised to make sense of them.
