The aim of this course is to develop a range of academic and professional skills in business management students. These skills will be relevant for both academic study and the professional, post-study workplace. This will be a practical, workshop-based, interactive course, aimed at developing student competence in a range of important academic and professional skills. The skills addressed will include: information searching/evaluation, understanding statistics, academic writing skills, group working, understanding referencing and plagiarism, and presentation skills.

This course will develop a range of academic and professional skills in business management students. This course will be a practical, workshop-based interactive, skills-based course. It is designed to be relevant for Business Management students, providing skills that are important to academic work, and the post-study workplace. The skills addressed will include: information searching/evaluation, understanding statistics, academic writing skills, group working, understanding referencing and plagiarism, and presentation skills. It will be a hands-on course, requiring students to utilise and develop their skills, and where assessment is designed to not only evaluate student performance, but will also involve the application and development of the skills examined in the course.

Duration : 6 minutes Students will be in groups with a maximum number of 5. They will do in person presentations in their final classroom tutorial. Each group will do a 6-minute presentation on a topic selected by the group, that addresses the requirements of the specified activity. As well as evaluating group working, and presentation skills, the presentation will also allow assessment of students information searching and evaluation skills. Written feedback via MyAberdeen. Feedback will be provided before submission of final assessment, so can provide formative feedback to students. |
