This course involves a one-day introductory local field trip for all first year single and joint honours students in the School of Geosciences. During the trip, students will be introduced to Geoscience as an integrated discipline that explores the relationships between nature and people. Lecturers from Archaeology, Geography and Geology will guide hands-on learning activities. The course is designed to be inclusive and provides an opportunity to meet fellow students and staff from across the school.

This field course consists of a one-day accessible visit to a site of local interest where students are introduced to key concepts of Geoscience as an integrated discipline. The theme of the day will be to ‘flow through time’ by integrating geological, geographical and archaeological perspectives of local landscapes and settlements. Mini in-field lectures will be interspersed with interactive, hands-on activities in small groups. No prior knowledge is needed.
