This course aims to introduce students to what is involved in undertaking research with an emphasis on providing students with a clear fundamental base from which to complete their dissertation.

The aims of the dissertation are to provide the student with an opportunity to demonstrate their academic skills, by studying in depth a subject in which they have an interest. This course introduces students to what is involved in undertaking a research project in finance. This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills which will allow you to be able to produce a complex independent piece of research using recognised research methods. The course will introduce ethical issues in research conduct, introduce you to financial data sources, considers quantitative and qualitative methods in turn, addressing issues in sampling and design, details of specific approaches, and considerations in data analysis.
The emphasis throughout is on understanding the conceptual
underpinning of different methods, and their strengths and limitations in research
Areas covered may include but may not be limited to the following:
• Qualitative and Quantitative research methods
• Ethical issues in research
• Data Analysis
