This course provides aspiring Music Educators an introduction to theoretical understandings and practical applications of models of reflective practice.

This course is based in a student-centred approach, emphasising the need for ongoing reflection and critical thinking as the foundation of continuous, career long, professional development.
The course will also explore the impact that effective reflective practice can have on the development of accessible, inclusive and engaging learning environments for students.
The course explores a range of content including understanding the needs for reflection in educational settings, overviews of a range of models of reflection, how we record our reflections, gathering external feedback (peer and participant) for reflection, collaborative reflection, analysis of reflective practice, a brief introduction to reflective research models (including Autoethnography and Action Research).

Students will be required to write a 750 word submission in the style of Blog post. The Blog post will focus on the student’s reflections on their core courses, what they have learnt and how this learning can be translated into a Music Education setting. Written feedback will be provided via MyAberdeen. |
