This course introduces the student to the three core questions of Private International Law:
Throughout the course, students will develop an understanding of how Scots Private International Law addresses legal relations that extend beyond Scotland’s borders. It equips students with the analytical tools needed to resolve complex legal questions arising from cross-border disputes.
Students will explore the vital role Private International Law plays in a diverse range of contexts, including – but not limited to - litigation involving the civil liability of Scottish corporations for wrongdoings committed overseas (such as labour rights violations), consumer protection cases, international child abduction, and cross-border inheritance matters.
This is an exempting course for the Faculty of Advocates exam on Private International Law.
