This course aims to provide student with opportunities to develop a broad and integrated knowledge of the Expressive Arts in curriculum studies and in therapeutic work.
Teaching on this course is through practical workshops which explore the skills and content of the Expressive Arts can integrate with therapeutic practice.

Students will explore the Expressive Arts of Art and Design, Dance, Drama and Music both as curriculum subjects studied in schools and as therapies. This course forms an interdisciplinary link between therapeutic practices which operate through the Expressive Arts and the Expressive Arts as a curriculum subject.
Teaching on this course is through practical workshops which explore the skills and content of the Expressive Arts can integrate with therapeutic practice.
By reflecting on their learning about the Expressive Arts, students will plan a therapeutic activity within one of the Expressive Arts to present as their assessment for this course.

The assignment will focus on students presenting a planned expressive arts therapy activity. They will consider this within the context of therapeutic and Expressive Arts principles. Presentations will be 10 mins in length and will be recorded on Panopto. Submission of the slides and Panopto link will be via Turnitin/ MyAberdeen. Feedback will be given using the assessment rubric and through the audio notes tool on Turnitin. |
