This course provides practitioners with the opportunity to explore a range of research and theory that encourages students to reflect on the leadership and management styles currently employed within their settings. Students will explore the theory and principles of leadership and management, considering the impact these may have, and those which they may wish to use when leading their own teams. Learning on this module will be underpinned by relevant policy, research, guidance documents and opportunities to reflect on their own practice whilst developing upon their own study skills.

This course provides practitioners with the opportunity to explore a range of research and theory that encourages students to reflect on the leadership and management styles currently employed within their settings. Students will explore the theory and principles of leadership and management, considering the impact these may have, and those which they may wish to use when leading their own teams. Learning on this module will be underpinned by relevant policy, research, guidance documents and opportunities to reflect on their own practice whilst developing upon their own study skills.
This course will be assessed through a reflective essay, enabling students to use their prior leadership and management experiences to reflect critically on their practice using the knowledge and study skills developed throughout the course.

2 x 1,500 word essays (50% each) In keeping with the School of Education policy on assessment, and in sufficient time for students to be able to improve their work through feedback, detailed written feedback on assessment is provided to students (typically within four weeks of submission). Feedback highlights strengths and gives clear guidelines for improvement. Face to face meetings or telephone tutor support can be arranged for students who are not succeeding. |
