Course Overview

 • This course will develop an understanding of the psychology sport and exercise;

• Look at psychological factors likely to affect individuals and their performance in the sporting environment;

• Develop psychological approaches to improve sports performance and well-being through key theories on behaviour and behaviour change;

• Provide research driven insights and strategies designed to benefit professionals and participants within the health, sport and exercise community.

Course Description

This course aims to develop an understanding of the psychology of sport and exercise. Current theories, research and practices will be presented as the framework within which this subject area continues to develop. In addition, approaches to improve health and well-being will be studied. Students will learn key theories about behaviour and behaviour change, including behaviour change techniques, and try them out to improve their own health and well-being.
