This course aims to prepare intending Honours students of Spanish and Latin American Studies for their compulsory period abroad in a Spanish-speaking country.
The course will develop further Spanish language skills, both receptive and productive. Classes on grammatical and linguistic analysis will contribute to the development of both sets of skills. In addition students will complete a structured self learning programme of audio-visual study and grammatical reinforcement study.

Building on work done in SP 2025 / SP 2525, the course will develop further language skills, both receptive (aural comprehension capacity through tuition based on audio and video material; reading comprehension through analysis of written Spanish and translation into English) and productive (compositions, translation into Spanish and oral language). Classes on grammatical and linguistic analysis will contribute to the development of both sets of skills. In addition students will complete a structured self learning programme of audio-visual study and grammatical reinforcement study.
2 weekly one-hour written language and grammar classes; 1 weekly one-hour oral practice class.

|A selection of further advanced intermediate contemporary textual materials from both Spain and Latin America, with attention to (further) selected varieties and registers of Spanish.
|Communicate effectively at an advanced intermediate level in speech and writing, paying attention to the communicative function of the language being used.
|Understand and apply further linguistic principles required to analyse the Spanish language and demonstrate awareness of further selected fundamental differences between Spanish and English.
|Recall, analyse and use the grammar structures covered in the course. Acquire and develop vocabulary, reading and writing skills to exploit linguistically advanced intermediate forms of Spanish
