Course Description

Many real engineering structures and materials exhibit nonlinearities that significantly affect their behaviour, compared with linear modelling assumptions. This course provides an understanding of the sources of these nonlinearities, including geometric and material nonlinearity, and how they affect the behaviour of a structure or material. Key theories and models are introduced, such as nonlinear strain measures and metal plasticity.
