Course Description

In this course we are going to examine the nature of organisations from an internal perspective, looking in at the organisation as an entity. We will explore be the ways in which organisations depend on the activities of individuals to maintain them, the structures and managerial practices that enable people to work together effectively. We will look at a range of questions such as:

  • What do we mean by an organisation?
  • How can organisations be managed?
  • What are the best ways of communicating with individuals and teams within an organisation?
  • Why can managing people in an organisation be such a problem?
  • How much influence does an organisation's culture have on its effectiveness?
