The course aims to encourage students to examine critically issues relating to the cultural, political, economic and social environment in which they are living during their period of study abroad. This will extend their cultural and linguistic awareness and provide them with an opportunity to conduct their own research. This course will also provide students with a better understanding and knowledge of translation and interpreting skills that they will acquired at the institutions that they will be attending.

By the end of the course students will be able to demonstrate the ability to undertake independent work and present their findings in an appropriate form. They will be able to relate the knowledge acquired to other aspects of their degree programme. They will have enhanced their writing and analytical skills. They will have developed transferable skills of self-reliance, time management, resourcefulness, analysis and presentation.

A report in host country language for the period of residence abroad, designed as a briefing for a fellow student who will be undertaking a similar programme in the future (1400 – 1500 words) Written and oral feedback. |
