Course Overview

This is the first half of the second year Gaelic language course for students who are relatively fluent in the language already and have studied it to at least Higher in school (Higher Gaelic or Gàidhlig) or similar level.  It follows on from GH1513. It continues to develop accuracy in the language and increases usage across a wider variety of domains.

Course Description

The course aims to enhance students' command of the formal structures of the Gaelic language at morphological and syntactic levels, as well as reinforcing their knowledge of the phonological and orthographic systems within the language. The course is designed to prepare students for the study of Gaelic language and literature at Honours level and builds on what was achieved in Gaelic Language 1b. In addition, students will be provided with additional translation practice to further progress their translation skills.
