Last modified: 05 Aug 2021 13:04

Course Overview

Disability studies and medical humanities are relatively new fields of interdisciplinary research in the humanities. Central to this course, which explores representations of illness and disability in a selection of modern French texts and films, is the question of how to define the key terms ‘illness’ and ‘disability’. Exploring work by writers and filmmakers gives us insights into the ways they think about bodies and the conditions of illness and/or disability in their particular social and cultural context.
