Course Aims:

The course is aimed at affording students a firm understanding of the main learning outcomes.

Main Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course, students are expected to know:
(i) The justifications for copyright protection;
(ii) Copyright subject matter;
(iii) The requirements for copyright protection;
(iv) The differences between economic and moral rights;
(v) The regulation of copyright in the European Union;
(vi) The rules governing authorship and first ownership of copyright;
(vii) Copyright infringement, defences and remedies.

Key Skills (Transferable)

The course will develop students’ research, analytical, writing, oral and communication skills through participation in a series of seminars and writing an assessed essay. It will also develop students’ independent learning skills.
