Course Overview

As part of the PGDE programme, this campus-based course builds on the knowledge, skills and dispositions students have gained throughout Developing Professional Practice 1. The course provides a variety of learning experiences which further develop students’ knowledge and understanding of current issues in Scottish Education. Students will continue to engage with pedagogical theory to support the development of professional values and skills in preparation for their second School Experience, building towards the transition into their induction year.

Course Description

To develop further in students: 

  • knowledge and understanding of pedagogical theory
  • knowledge and understanding of the Scottish curriculum and related policy
  • professional values, skills and abilities relevant to the transition to teaching
  • personal and professional values and commitment to career long professional learning
  • a depth of knowledge, understanding and expertise in professional enquiry
  • the ability to apply skills of enhanced professional reflection and enquiry in a school environment
