Course Description

Risk Management is high on government, business and societal agendas. Irrespective of industry or background there is a necessity for everyone to have a background in risk management to enable them to identify, evaluate and control hazards and risks which could have a detrimental effect on their objectives. This course is for educational (and other) professionals to take the first steps on a risk management journey specifically tailored to their own professional context by understanding the issues surrounding hazard and risk.

It will enable students to become more effective professionals by being able to:

  • demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of hazard and risk and their consequences within society
  • apply such knowledge and understanding to understanding the concepts of hazard and risk within their professional context
  • critically reflect on the consequences of hazard and risk within their own professional context and what this means for their own professional development
