Course Description

This course concentrates on the acquisition of basic grammar and vocabulary, and on the development of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. In addition to the four weekly classes, students will complete a structured programme of self learning in the Language Centre (1 hour per week).

This course may NOT be included as part of a graduating curriculum with FR1024 or FR1025.

Summative Assessments

1st Attempt:  1 two-hour written examination (80%) and  in-course assessment: 4 linguistic exercises (20%).

Resit: 1 two-hour written examination (100%).

Formative Assessment

Weekly formative assessments of different aspects of written French language.

Feedback

Written and/or verbal feedback is given on all assessments. Additional informal feedback on performance is also given in both written language classes and oral classes.
