The geological research project is an individual research project. It is taken by students on a joint geology program, and exceptionally by geology-students. Multidisciplinarity and crossdisciplinarity are encouraged so that students can play to their strengths and interests, but the project is assessed on geological merit.

1st Attempt: 1) SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION: Outline of the intended project.(10%) 2) WRITTEN REPORT: (80%) in the form of a "Short" to the Journal of the Geological Society of London. 3) SEMINAR: Peer assessed (cross subject) and by a panel of staff members. (10%)
The application and outline must be submitted prior to commencing project work. Feedback is given on the practicailities and structure of the programme of work. The student must keep an accurate laboratory notebook documenting the time spent and outcomes of their investigations.
