The course aims to provide students with:
the opportunity to develop skills to critically read, analyse, deconstruct and evaluate policy documentation and published research;
the skills and knowledge to evaluate practice and the role of the professional in a range of professional settings in the complex and interconnected arena of educational policy, theory, research and professional practice.
This course has been developed in alignment with recent policy guidance promoting the incorporation of M-Level credits as part of initial teacher education programmes, with a longer term view of progression towards a M-Level teaching profession in Scotland.
This course, together with ED55A1 Understanding, Using and Evaluating Research in Practice, both at M-Level (SCQF Level 11), will develop students skills in the critical evaluation of published research, with a view to develop a critical evidence-based understanding of practice.
