Globalisation encompasses the processes of increasing international integration and interdependence. This course will examine key theoretical, economic, social, political, cultural and environmental aspects of globalisation. Issues of space and scale will provide the unifying theme of the course.

Globalisation encompasses the processes of increasing international integration and interdependence. This course will examine key theoretical, economic, social, political, cultural and environmental aspects of globalisation. Issues of space and scale will provide the unifying theme of the course.
Topics to be addressed include, for example: history of globalisation, theoretical perspectives on globalisation, uneven development, economic governance, local-global interplays, transnational mobility. These will be team-taught by staff, often using examples drawn from their own fields of research.

1st Attempt: Coursework (100%) as follows: 2,000 word essay (40%); 1000-word short report + discussion + tutorial participation (30%); and 12-minute individual presentation (30%).
Resit: Resubmission of failed essay/short report or submission of a report on the basis of failed presentation with marks for those capped at the level of CGS D3.
