SN1002: SCANDINAVIAN LANGUAGE (SWEDISH) 1

First Sub Session

Sustained Study
This intensive language course aims to introduce the fundamentals of the grammar and a basic working vocabulary of Swedish, and to give extensive practice in reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students will learn to interact in both dialogues and written language, and also get some cultural insight. The course is designed to give students a sound foundation in the language, enabling them to progress to SN 1502 and thereafter to level 2.

SN1502: SCANDINAVIAN LANGUAGE (SWEDISH) 2

Second Sub Session

Sustained Study
Building on SN 1002 Scandinavian Language I, students will continue their introduction to speaking, listening, reading and writing in Swedish. Students will learn to interact in both dialogues and written language, and also get some cultural insight. The course is designed to give students further development in the language, enabling them to progress to level 2.

SN2002: SCANDINAVIAN LANGUAGE (SWEDISH) 3

Level 2

First Sub Session

Sustained Study

The course will refine and build on the first year of study, but we will start using the language a lot more and you will be exposed to a lot more language. A large part of the course will deal with expanding vocabulary and ability to use the language.  The course book uses normal everyday language and is structured around a variety of topics which will enhance your ability to express yourself and to understand new words from the context.

SN2502: SCANDINAVIAN LANGUAGE (SWEDISH) 4

15 credits

Level 2

Second Sub Session

Sustained Study

This course follows on SN2002.  In addition to building vocabulary and confidence, you will learn to use the passive mood as well as practise classic Swedish dilemmas, such as “tycker”, “tänker”, “tror” and “känner”.  You will also read a book in Swedish and write a book review.
