The ‘Curating an Exhibition’ course leads to the creation and opening of an exhibition in the Sir Duncan Rice Library. Working together as a team, supported by the professional staff of University Collections, each student also takes on a specific role. The course makes extensive use of the University’s internationally-important museum collections and gives students an opportunity to reflect on an important aspect of museum practice. The course is assessed by a personal reflective portfolio.

The ‘Curating an Exhibition’ course leads to the creation and opening of an exhibition in the Sir Duncan Rice Library. Working together as a team, supported by the professional staff of University Collections, each student also takes on a specific role, including research, writing, design, installation and marketing. The course makes extensive use of the University’s internationally-important museum collections and gives students an opportunity to reflect on an important aspect of museum practice. It also introduces students to team-working in a professional setting and gives an insider perspective on professional museum practice. The exhibition will focus on a temporary pop-up exhibition in a high-profile display case in the Sir Duncan Rice Library café and may be accompanied by other aspects such as an educational trail or online content, depending on student interest. The course is assessed by a personal reflective portfolio.
